
Ideas:
1. Buy a water filtration system in order to buy bottled water. By carrying your own bottle everyday, you save money.
2. Buy a kit of rechargeable batteries. You can save money by not having to replace batteries for new ones so often, and my dear planet will be thankful.
3. Shred all the junk mail, and use it as a padding material whenever you have to mail a package to a friend.
4. When you are shopping, reconsider if you need all those bags for all those different stores, Using reusable shopping bags is a great alternative.
5. Be conscious about the electricity, whenever you are done charging your IPOD, cell phone, etc…. unplug the cable from the wall. Also consider to invest in a solar charger.
6. If you hosted a party and ended with a lot of bottles, consider saving them for the Christmas time and create your own Christmas tree. Be creative!
7. If you had carry-out food, and the food containers are plastic, rinse them very well and included them in your recycled bin.
8. Consider sign up to paperless statement for your bank.
9. Plant a tree, a tree can provide you shade, beauty and oxygen, plus it will be a home for many different species of birds, bugs, and even reptiles.
10. Don’t litter, love your planet and your surroundings.
11. If you are remodeling your house, consider invest a little for eco-friendly products.
12. Consider donation: If you don’t longer want that couch, or that cofee table consider donation, we bet someone can find a nice place for it.
13. When you need paper for your printer or copier, consider getting the one that is label as 100% recycled. It is good quality and no trees were involved in the production of that paper, plus it can be recycled.
14. Consider the planet before printing information out of your computer. Ask yourself if you really need the entire sheet or if it will be enough to just write a note in a piece of paper or a sticky note.
15. Use cold water for your laundry.
16. Replace your light bulbs for those better know as compact fluorescent lamps (CFL). They last longer, and you will save money.
17. Buy from your local markets. By buying local products you will be contributing to the local economy, is usually cheaper and fresher.
18. If you are planning to buy a new car, explore the options of those new eco-friendly options.
19. Carpool and public transportation is always a good option to save money in gas, and to eliminate the "carbon footprint" in my dear planet.
20. If there is not a recycle program in your workplace, you can come up with the plan. Take the initiative!
21. Make sure your appliances are energy efficient.
22. It is always best to reuse or recycle your old paints; you can always donate it, swap it in a recycling program, donate it to someone in need or just paint something else, like the garage or a closet. If you cannot take advantage of the recycling programs for latex paint or find alternative uses, you may dispose of latex paint with your garbage by solidifying it that way you minimize the impact on the planet. The paint needs to be dried out before disposing of it with other garbage. Use materials such as shredded newspaper; saw dust and cat litter to be used to absorb wet paint. Once the paint is solidified, leave the lid off the can and place it in your regular waste for pick-up.
